Hey guys....wondering if you have any coaching DVD's relating to instructing a U/14 team on breaking a full court press. Cheers James |

Here are a few links that might help: https://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/offense/HowToBreakAnyPress.pdf https://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/play.asp?id=7798 https://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/play.asp?id=2118 I personally like the 3 up press breaker because nobody runs its... everyone (at least around here) runs a 2 up press breaker or a 4 across. So the teams we play are very good at pressing the 2 up formation. We mostly run a 3 up or then sprinkle in the 1 up to give them a different look... or use this at end of game if we NEED to get the ball in: https://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/plays/indian-inbounds-play.html |

Along with picking a press breaker, I'd recommend doing some 2 v 4 or 3 vs 5 type press breakers. In other words, you're giving the press two extra players and making the offense figure it out. Depending upon the skill level of your players, you can tell the defense to crank it up and double team, etc. Could start out with only giving the defense one extra player. Find these type of drills provide a challenge for the players, give great teaching opportunities, and make it harder than it will be when evenly matched up. |
