Zone Slayer

Summary:

This is arguably the best zone play ever. It will give you an short jump shot or a lay up against the 2-3 or 1-2-2 zone.

Personnel:

Player 3 should be your best shooter.
Plaayer 1 and 2 should be good ballhanders.
Player 4 should be able to make a lay up and score inside.

Instructions

  • Player 1 passes to player 3. If the entry is not open, player 1 can dribble at 3 for a shallow cut. Or player 3 will need to cut to get open.
  • Player 3 should look to reverse the ball back to 1 and continue the reveral all the way to player 2.
  • After passing the ball, player 3 should cut to the post area. Player 5 cuts to the mid post area.
  • Player 4 and 5 set a double screen.
  • Player 2 reverses the ball back to 1.
  • Player 3 cuts off the double screen looking for the shot on the wing.
  • Player 5 steps in to screen the middle defender in the zone.
  • Player 1 should look for player 3 cutting to the wing and make a pass fake. Then pass the ball to player 4 for an easy shot or lay up.
