15 Foot Drive Drill
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
To help the offensive player with the ball learn how to handle a defender from an even start with a line to the basket.
Instructions

- Set up the offensive player with the ball about 15 feet from the basket at the pinch post on either side.
- Put the defender alongside the offensive player giving the offensive player a lane to the basket.
- On the command "GO!", offensive player tries to get to the rim and get up a good shot.
- Offensive player must make a quick move, control the dribble, read the defender and finish the play by getting a good shot at the rim.
- Offensive player may be able to lay it in on the run, may have to stop and turn into the defender and square up, or possibly even pivot back the other way if cut off aggressively enough by the defender.
Points of Emphasis:
- Offensive player must read the defender, make a quick move to beat the defender to the rim, possibly even create some contact on the drive.
- Offensive player should attempt to throw the defender off balance and by being the aggressor.
- Offensive player needs to finish the play with the best shot available at the rim.
