One Foot Power Move with Defender in Front
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
To teach offensive players in front of the rim (point blank with a defender in front) how to be the aggressor. The drill teaches the offensive player to be strong and on balance, using pump fakes and bump backs to keep the defender off balance.
Instructions

- The offensive player can start with the ball anywhere in front of the rim.
- The defender can start by establishing his best defensive position.
- The offensive player needs to fight back against the push given him by the defender, straighten and square up directly facing the basket, become the aggressor, and finish the play by attacking the defender with a power move (off two feet) or pump fakes and power move.
- The offensive player should keep the defender off balance and guessing when to jump.
Points of Emphasis:
- The offensive player should be aggressive and make a power move to the basket.
- Teach the offensive players not to get bodied "off balance" by the defender.
- Some players will attempt to fade or shoot falling away to get away from the defender. Emphasize that he needs to go right at defender.
