Pivot Race
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
This drill provides a fun and competitive way to drill pivoting.
Instructions

- Have three lines spread along the baseline as shown.
- On your signal, all three players will begin doing a designated pivot repeatedly until they reach the half court line.
- For instance, you designate all reverse (drop step) pivots. If all players are initially facing the right sideline, the first reverse pivot will be off of a right pivot foot, and players will then be facing the left sideline.
- Their next reverse pivot will be off of a left pivot foot, and they will wind up facing the right sideline again.
- This alternating pattern continues until they reach the division line.
Points of Emphasis:
- Use the same format to drill forward pivots.
This drill promotes balanced skill development and intensity.
