Summary:

This is a quick and easy play that will isolate your best post player and best shooter on the same side of the floor

Personnel:

The best poster player and shooter need to be on the same side of the floor in order for the play to have the most scoring potential.

Instructions

  • To start the play enter the ball to the opposite wing from the post player you want to isolate.
  • You will want your best post player and best perimeter shooter on the same side. In this example those two players are Player 4 (post) and Player 2 (shooter)
  • Player 1 passes to Player 3
  • After Player 1 makes the pass to Player 3, Player 5 steps up and sets a backscreen for Player 1 to clear out to the ball side.
  • Once Player 4 sees Player 1 cut through he or she will start to walk the defender down to the block. It is important that Player 4 continues to face the defender (faces the baseline).
  • Once Player 5 has set the backscreen for Player 1 he or she will need to open up back to the ball.
  • Player 3 will pass the ball to Player 5.
  • Once Player 5 has received the pass from Player 3 he needs to take 2 dribbles towards the opposite side of the floor.
  • When Player 4 sees that Player 5 has the ball he should spin and pin his defender below him on the block.
  • Player 5 now has the option of passing to Player 4 in the post or to Player 2 on the wing.
  • The first option to the play is Player 4 isolated in the post. The second option is Player 2. This becomes an option when Player 2's defender tries to help down into the post on Player 4. He will have a wide open jump shot.
