John Wall Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is to work on your ball handling moves in a tight area as well as pushing the ball out after your move and attacking and finishing at the rim.

Instructions

  • The offensive player dribbles through the cone working on a specific move.
  • At the last cone, the player pushes the ball out and circles the chair at half court.
  • As he turns the corner, he reattacks the chair at the 3 point line on his way to finishing at the basket.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Work on various dribbling moves.
  • Stay low throughout the drill.
  • explode out of the last cone and pas the chair at the top of the key.
  • Incorporate various finishing moves at the rim or jumpers.

Motivation/Teaching Tips:

  • Time the drill and prescribe a specific number of makes in that time.
