1 on 1 closouts (Wing)

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is for players to work on their offensive skills in a live situation as well as work on proper defensive closeouts.

Instructions

  • Each player will sprint from the elbow to touch the block and then cut out to the desginated side. (The player who starts on the elbow that is the same as the designated side is the offensive player).
  • Coach passes the player the ball and they play 1 on 1 from that spot.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Limit advances players to 3 dribbles and beginners and intermediates to 5 dribbles.
  • Read the defensive closeout properly and make moves to counter it.
