2 Player Med Ball Attack Drill
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
The purpose of this drill is to relocate after a back dribble and reattck at another spot on the court while incorporating a small medicine ball to help build hand strength and simulate getting low.
Instructions

- Player 1 has a medicine ball in one hand and a basketball in the other.
- Player 1 attacks the basket and when he approaches the three point line uses a back dribble, throws the medicine ball down, makes a change of direction move towards the wing.
- As player 1 approaches the wing he reattacks using the same or alternate change of direction move to get to the rim and finish.
- As player 1 is attacking the chair on the wing, player 2 should sprint dribble to the medicine ball left on the ground by player 1. As he approaches the medicine ball he should make a change of direction move at the ball while picking it up and pushing out towards half court.
- The players having now switched positions should repeat the drill from their new location.
Points of Emphasis:
- Attack all positions at game speed
- Push hard off your front leg to create space with your backdribble.
- Keep your guard arm up (the one with the medicine ball in it) to protect the basketball while backdribbling.
- Stay low and aggressive as you backdribble.
- Stay low as you attack the chair using its height as a guideline for the level your shoulder should be at.
- Stay low as you approach the medicine ball, pick it up and push out. Do not go up, down, and back up again.
Motivation/Teaching Tips:
- Complete a certain number of makes in a specific period of time with your partner.
