Attack, Reattack Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is to work on attacking a defender, while using your backdribble to create space and reattack from another spot on the court.

Instructions

  • Player 1 should sprint dribble out and attack the chair on the wing.
  • As he approaches, change speeds and use your back dribble to create space.
  • Use a change of direction move to relocate off the dribble to the corner.
  • Use another change of direction move to attack the new defender and finish at the rim.
  • Repeat on the opposite side.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Change speeds effectively while maintaining their balance.
  • Push off the front foot to create space with their back dribble.
  • Protect the basketball by having your guard arm up and back dribbling on an angle.
  • Stay low throughout.
  • Explode low past the defender on the way to the rim.
  • Finish high ad vary your finishes.

Motivation/Teaching Tips:

  • Number of makes in a period of time.
