Two Ball Attack and Curl Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is to work on developing your ability to handle the basketball with both hands, attack the basket and/or shoot off the dribble and attack the basket and/or shoot from a curl cut.

Instructions

  • Attack the chair with two basketballs.
  • Put the ball in your inside hand down on the chair.
  • Make a change of direction move and finish at the rim or for a jumpshot.
  • After finishing, the player should curl back around the chair, pick up the ball and reattack for a finish at the rim or a jump shot.
  • It is important for the player to curl around the chair to the side opposite he attacked off the dribble. (ex. in the picture he attacked of the dribble to the outside so he curls back to reattack to the inside).
  • Dribble back to half court and repeat the drill on the opposite side of the court.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Staying low and under control
  • Changing speeds as they approach the defender
  • Making quick moves and attacking low past the chair (defender)
  • Finishing high at the rim or in your jumper.
  • Curling low around the chair and finishing high.
