Two Chair Finishing Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is to work on scoring off the dribble with various dribbling moves.

Instructions

  • Place the chairs about 3-4 feet apart on both wings (this can be done from the top of the key as well).
  • The player starts at half court and attacks each cone while working on a specific dribbling move (hesitation, inside out, crossovers, between the legs, behind the back, and spin move.
  • Finish at the rim or with a pull up jumper.
  • Then attack back through on the left side and finish at half court.
  • Repeat back through starting at half court on the left side.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Stay low through cones, finish high at the rim or in your jumper.
  • change speeds as you approach the chair and then explode out of your move.
  • Use one dribble to get to the rim or into your jumper after the last move.
  • Vary your finishing moves.
  • Incorporate double moves between the chair as you become more advanced.

Motivation/Teaching Tips:

  • Time the drill.
  • Count the number of makes.
