Diamond Attack Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is to work on change of direction dribbling moves while finishing at the basket.

Instructions

  • The player weaves through the cones that are set up like a diamond and finishes at the rim.
  • Start on the opposite side and finish on the other side of the rim.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Start at the top with both your right hand and left hand so that you are finishing on both sides of the rim.
  • Use a different move each time you go through (ex. all crossovers, all between the legs, behind the backs)
  • Or use a different move at each cone
  • Pull away the cone nearest to the rim and have the players take a pullup jumper
  • Stay low, go as quickly as you can through the cones.

Motivation/Teaching Tips:

  • See how many makes a player can have in a certain period of time.
