Purpose of the Drill:

Improve dribbling skills.

Instructions

  • Find lines on the court that form a square or rectangle on the court. Most court have various sized shapes marked on the court. You can use the lane like shown in the diagram. Another option is to mark out a square by using cones.
  • Have players line up with two balls under the basket.
  • First player starts dribbling on the lines that form a rectangle. Player must face the same direction the entire time so they are running, shuffling, and backpeddaling.
  • Once around the square, player sprints to first chair and weaves through the chairs.
  • After weaving player can stat over for specified number of reps.
  • As an added challenges players can do the same drill while dribbling the basket very low, alternating dribble, one high and one low, or cross overs at each chair.

Motivation/Teaching Tips:

  • Time them to see how many they can do in X minutes. Or see who can do through the course the fastest (timed race).
