Zig Weave Pattern
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
Improving dribbling skills (feel and control of the ball with both hands).
Instructions

- Players line up with two basketballs.
- They start by zig zaging cone to cone while dribbling both basketballs.
- After reaching the last cone player runs to first chair and weaves through each chair.
- After reaching the 5th chair, playe runs to thrid part of the drill and dribbles all the way around the chair while facing midcourt the entire time (so they player will fo forward, side shuffle, backwards, side shuffle, and then fowards again to go around the chair). Player should repeat this pattern on the final chair.
- Once done players can stop or repeat the dribble for X number or reps.
- To add additional challenge and varations to the drill, you can have player dribble the ball really low so it only comes a couple inches of the ball. You can also have them alternate dribble, go backwards, or dribble one ball high and one low.
Points of Emphasis:
- Keep head up.
- Stay in a low athletic stance.
- Go hard! Do be afraid to lose the ball.
- Keep ball waist high or lower.
Motivation/Teaching Tips:
- I like to time the players (1 to 2 minutes) and see how many times they can get through course in the specified amount of time. This motivates players to run faster and work harder.
