4 Chair Back Up Dribble
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
Work on the back up dribble (high reps) and simulate game situation.
Instructions

- First player dribbles at chair, stops, protects the ball, bounces back pushing off the inside foot using the back up dribble.
- After backing up the player then attacks the next chair and backs up (repeating process).
- Players should watch the rim the entire time.
- Once first player gets to second chair, the second player in line can start.

- Once all players finish, the first player starts again attacking the chair using the left hand working all the way around.
- This is a great way to get lots of reps practing the back up dribble in a small space and get players to look at the basket.
- After players are done a variation is to allow players to cross between the legs and go for a lay up after the back up dribble.
Points of Emphasis:
- Protect the ball.
- Keep eyses on rim
- Attack the chair
- Bounce back quickly and cover lots of distance (so they create plenty of space from the defense).
