Colgate Agility Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is to work on the player's ability to change directions while changing movements on each change of direction.

Instructions

  • The cones are set up to look like a larger variation of the lane about 10 yards apart.
  • Sprint the length of the cones, turn either direction and slide back, turn again and sprint, then turn and slide in the opposite direction from the first time, sprint back, then backpedal, and finally sprint back.
  • In simpler terms: sprint, slide, sprint, slide, sprint, backpedal, sprint.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Planting the outside foot and using it to push off into whatever movement you are using.
  • Stay low and balanced throughout, it is only 10 yards apart.
  • Do not cross your feet while sliding.
  • Stay balanced on the backpedal.
