{"id":166,"date":"2013-12-05T08:07:56","date_gmt":"2013-12-05T14:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/haefner\/?p=166"},"modified":"2014-02-03T09:08:20","modified_gmt":"2014-02-03T15:08:20","slug":"new-favorite-drill-for-our-3rd-grade-team-fun-and-improves-passing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/haefner\/new-favorite-drill-for-our-3rd-grade-team-fun-and-improves-passing","title":{"rendered":"New Favorite Drill for Our 3rd Grade Team &#8211; Fun and Improves Passing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a passing drill we have been using with my daughter&#8217;s 3rd grade team. \u00a0I also plan to use it with my high school team as a passing and conditioning drill. \u00a0It&#8217;s called\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/drills\/passandswitch.html\">Pass and Switch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For our 3rd graders, it&#8217;s their new favorite drill and they have been asking if they can run this drill during practice.<\/p>\n<p>We see quite a few smiles during this drill.\u00a0 Not to mention it significantly improves their passing skills.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/drills\/passandswitch.html\">http:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/drills\/passandswitch.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We usually start fairly close together with bounce passes for 1-2 minutes.\u00a0 Then move farther a part and make chest passes for 1-2 minutes.\u00a0 Then move farther apart and make overhead passes for 1-2 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>In the last practice we had an odd number of players so I participated (and got a workout while I was at it).\u00a0 We decided to keep track of dropped passes and do one push up for every dropped pass.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I did the push ups with our team.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0It&#8217;s all in good fun and the push ups just provide a little challenge for them to make good passes.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we also challenge the players and see how many successful passes they can make in one minute. \u00a0Pass and Switch is a fun drill that is excellent for improving passing skills and conditioning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a passing drill we have been using with my daughter&#8217;s 3rd grade team. \u00a0I also plan to use it with my high school team as a passing and conditioning drill. \u00a0It&#8217;s called\u00a0Pass and Switch.
