Your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/coaching\/coaching_philosophy.html\">strategy and philosophy<\/a> might be different based on age level, skill level, number of players in the gym, number of baskets available, etc. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But hopefully the practice plans and drills give you some ideas. I highly recommend you create your own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/coaching\/pre-season-tips.html#chapter2\">master practice plan<\/a>, do your season planning, and develop your own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/haefner\/excited-had-our-first-mandatory-meeting-with-the-players-off-to-good-start\/\">strategy<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>No Links Today<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sorry for not adding links to the drills today. \u00a0Most of the drills are in my head and would require video for a good explanation. \u00a0I did however write up some thoughts on shot selection and improving your offensive efficiency. \u00a0I&#8217;ll try to get that out to you soon.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s our practice plan from Day 3 (10th grade boys)&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><b>Intro<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Review core values.<br \/>\nRemind them about rally after practice tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p><b>On Ball Defense (6 min)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Combo- footfire, stance, mirror, push step, dig, contest<br \/>\nClose outs &#8211; from defensive lines<\/p>\n<p><b>Rebounding &amp; Defense (30 min)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 pass away drill (both wings go at same time)<br \/>\nShell Drill Box Outs &#8211; Pass, Skip, Drive, Shoot<\/p>\n<p><b>Ball Security \/ handling (20 min)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Explain ripping high or low (not middle).<\/p>\n<p>From lines:<br \/>\n&#8211; step through (rip low), back (rip high).<br \/>\n&#8211; step through (rip low), front pivot.<br \/>\n&#8211; drop step, rev pivot (rip low).<\/p>\n<p>1on1 no dribble &#8211; 12 seconds each<\/p>\n<p>Multi-purpose ballhandling drill (using both courts &#8211; two groups)<\/p>\n<p><b>Footwork and Shooting (20 min)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Form shooting<br \/>\nSpin out jump hooks<\/p>\n<p>Screening drill with reference defense (make the reads):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>turn down screen<\/li>\n<li>curl<\/li>\n<li>flare<\/li>\n<li>4 back<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Half Court Offense<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Explain our offense.. maybe from 4 out&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0&#8211; We should only take two kinds of shots&#8230; 50% or more should be within 9 feet of the basket and the rest should be WIDE open jump shots.\u00a0 Get out tape measure.<br \/>\n<\/i><i>\u00a0&#8211; someone in rebounding position on every shot<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>1) lay up with rebounder crashing<br \/>\n<\/i><i>2) runner with rebounder crashing<br \/>\n<\/i><i>3) post up with rebounder crashing<br \/>\n<\/i><i>4) wide open shot with rebounder crashing<\/i><\/p>\n<p>4 on 0 pass and screen away<br \/>\nTransition offense<br \/>\nInbounds Plays<\/p>\n<p><b>Free Throws (20 shots)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NOTE: This practice plan is based on specific strategy we have developed for this team and this season.
