My son is going to be a junior in high school. He loves basketball and would love to play in college. Realistically, his size doesn't contribute to this, but I still want to offer him the best I can to help him reach his goals. He has an amazing work ethic, just needs guidance. Towards the end of the season coach had him doing point guard work instead of forward, and I felt he needs help in this area. Started reading online about the PGC camp...point guard camp...and was wondering if anyone had negative or positive feedback. We have attended annually skills camps at area universities, hate to say we weren't pleased with the last one, was the most expensive, had the name behind, but the kids spent most of time waiting in lines....we live in Southern Illinois, but will drive to neighbor states. We are also taking shooting lessons from an area well respected coach. While he hasn't heard of this camp was wanting your input as well.

I have not personally been to a PGC camp, however I do know of a coach that went to their "shooting camp" and said it was really good.

The best camp I know of is one we are hosting with Don Kelbick. We currently have one schedule in Ironwood Michigan and I'm just about ready to get aonther one booked in Chicago August 12-14. I just need to get gym confirmations and a few other things. You can read about the July 22-24 Michigan camp here:

The skill development camps with Don Kelbick will be really good and like nothing you've seen before. He focuses very heavily on mentality, aggressiveness, and footwork. It's really good stuff and I have stolen (borrowed) as much as I can from Don and use it with the players I train locally. It's the best I have seen.

I appreciate the info. Will you have any other camps in the southern direction.? We might look to schedule our vacation around this. Also, please understand when I ask this next question since our last camp experience wasn't great...where or who else could I look or talk to about someone who has attended your camp. I respect and I really enjoy the various articles on basketball you have. I also work with youth players...so these have all been helpful. I also respected the name that went along with our last camp choice, but was not impressed with the organization of time for these players....so I just want to choose wisely.

You can do a search online for point guard camps... here are a few -

http://www.pgcbasketball.com/schedule-locations/?state=illinois

http://basketballsbest.com/pointguard.htm

I'm sure that the one that Jeff is talking about with Don is a good camp, they are both knowledgeable coaches.

I just got the gym reserved and everything finalized for the 3-day camp in Chicago. That is about as far south in Illinois we'll be going for now. You can sign up and get more info here:
http://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/il/august2011chicagocamp.html

Now that we're doing camps with Don I wish I would have saved testimonials we get about his camp. I just did a quick search through my email and here's what I found. These are unsolicited emails that people sent me (I guess because they found Don through our site). I'll also check with Don and see if he saved any. If you'd like I can also email these people to see if it's ok for you to contact them.

I would like to personally thank Coach kelbick for job he did with our team this summer. our girls totally enjoyed the camp and their confidence is off the chart. coming up short in the state championship game left a hunger within them that Coach Kelbick gave them the skillz and drillz to reach that goal of winning it all. theres a buzz from the players and other coaches from the the camp and we are looking forward to Coach returning .
thanks again.

My name is Guillermo Moreno and I am the former Head Coach of the Colombian National Basketball team. And i just wanted to let you know how i feel about the results of the clinic that Don Kelbick just did in Sincelejo Colombia SA

I have just finished my second clinic with Don Kelbick, here in Colombia. It was a very rewarding experience. Not only is he a great teacher, but his unique training techniques are very effective and his enthusiasm is infectious. The thing that really impresses me is the fact that he is able to teach and reach the minds of the players, even though he doesn't speak our language. I am truly impressed at how he was able to improve the players he worked with in a short period of time. He is very generous with his time with both our coaches and our players and the results of that were very obvious to me.

We feel very lucky to have made a connection with Don and hope to have him for many more clinics. I appreciate his interest and all he has done for the improvement of Colombian basketball.

Sincerely,

Guillermo Moreno
