I believe Coach Haske said he only presses on a make or baseline inbounds situation. What happens on a missed basket? Do you try to press somehow or sprint back to set up half court pressure defense? Thanks.

That is the same question that I have!

I think I'm going to just keep the press on for misses as well.....

From what I understand, Coach Haske will do what the opponent allows. If they are facing a good transition team, they will sprint back in half court defense. If the opponent slows it up and allows them to set up with pressure, they will do that (apply pressure).

Thanks Joe; however, I have found that pressing on a make actually works well in slowing down a good transition team....for example, your 5 or 4 pressures the rebounder depending on who is closest, we then trap with the halfback or the 2. Different strokes for different folks but I have found it extremely effective in continuing pressure

Great point, Jhamilton.

I think that Jeff was referring to missed baskets and not made baskets.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified my point....we press on makes and misses. We have found that trapping on rebounds has really slowed down good transition teams and helps wear them out

Awesome. Appreciate the insight on that. That should be helpful to other coaches installing the system!
