Hi Don,

I recently picked up your Matchup Zone video. In many of the drills in both videos, you got rid of passing in order to maximize repetitions. I really like that idea, but I was wondering how you approach teaching passing skills with your teams.

Best,
Coach Egan

I hope the videos help you.

Obviously, the Match Up is a defensive situation and Attack and Counter is individual offense. When I coach my teams, at least half of my practice is skill development within what we do as a team. We work with specific passing situation inside of that skill development.

Moreover, most of our emphasis on passing takes place in our live work. We place a lot of 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 when we practice. That gives us a many opportunities to address passing and in what situation we would use which pass. We work on in in our full court drills, half court drills, our skeleton drills and our competitive drills.
