Post subject:  Knee rehabilitation

Hey there,

Around 5 weeks ago, I sprained my knee while playing a pick up game. I have been taking the precautions necessary to recover it such as using the RICE technique and taking ibuprofen to reduce the swelling and regain the range of motion in my knee. I've been playing for a week now and it felt good. However, I tweaked it once more last night. I think it is due to the weak ligament which caused it to give way a second time. How long should I rest and stay away from playing? Also, what exercises are there that I can do to strengthen my knee?

The first thing you need to do is go to a doctor and see just how much damage has been done. Then ask him how to go about rehabing your knee. See if he will reccommend a certified individual......

We aren't doctors so I doubt if anyone would or should give you advice as to go about doing that.... good luck.
