I have a good understanding of basketball fundamentals, but whenever I am playing basketball I have a hard time with proper spacing and movement without the basketball.

Here are a few tips...

1) Unless you are screening for someone or making a play, maintain at least 15 feet of spacing away from other players.

2) When you pass in the post, either basket cut or relocate.

3) When away from the ball, either cut or find someone to screen. After you screen, go where the defense ain't.

4) Be decisive in your cuts and passes. Only thing you can do wrong is turn it over. So be convinced that what ever you do is right

5) Be hard to guard, run away from D on screens

6) Make the defense play over distance (cover lots of distance/space)

7) On dribble penetration find an open spot.

If you're confused about where to go for spacing, either go to an open spot on the perimater (use the three point line for spacing):

Or go to an open spot in the post (high post/elbow, low block, or short corner).
