I was wondering in what order should i do the following in the off season. I am in grade 11: strength training, basketball workout, and cardio/speed training

Read these two articles. They should help you figure out what you need to do.

I would study the process of periodization. You want to start skill development in the beginning but should be lifting year round.

Hi Ekam,

I was fortunate enough to play college basketball and I hated to lift because I always thought it would mess my shot up. But we all know how vital weight training is to your basketball success.

So here is what I did during the off season to make sure I lifted and still never lost my shot:

Lifting in the morning

Shooting workout immediately after lifting - this is key to your comfort and form along with your continual shooting progress. Start with form shooting (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI1TP3u0bdE) this drill is crucial right after a tough upper body lifting exercise.

After my basketball workout (which included varies forms of conditioning) I would do sprints, mile run - all cardio to end my workout day.

Does this help?

ekam, We were talking about your shot..... and not being able to jump shoot -

Start in close..... 5 feet, make five in a row in a semi circle in front of the basket.... then go to 8-10 feet and do the same thing... 5 in a row. This will give you the confidence to make a jumper. Then slowly but surely move back until you can still make those 5 in a row. You wont get far in high school ball without a J!

Good luck.
