Hello coach, just have a question about shooting . I notice their are great shooters who bring the ball up their shooting motion on the opposite side of their body. For example , a right handed player will bring the ball up the left side of their body instead of the right side . Players like KD, kyrie, ray allen, D Angelo russel, joe Johnson and Devin booker, and Lonzo ball just to name a few. How do you feel about this? Would you recommend a player doing this if they feel comfortable doing this and not try to change it to the traditional shot line? Also do you have a reason as to why a player might do this?

Due to physics, I think it's better if the ball continues in a straight line. Starting on the non shooting side just adds a variable than can cause problems.

With that said, being comfortable is important and it's not a deal breaker. So whether I'd change completely depends....

does it seem the technique is causing consistent misses left and right?
does the athlete already shoot at a high percentage?
how long has the athlete been shooting this way?
what are the goals of the athlete?
how far over does he/she bring the ball?

These are all factors that can affect whether you try to change something like that or not.
