When it comes to outside shooting, I think the best thing you can do is develop a quicker release by focusing on "shot prep" and possibly elimating wasted movements (if you have any extra unneeded movements that cause a long delay you might need to clean that up). But usually, 9 times out of 10, players just need to get better at "shot prep".

This means you prepare before the ball gets to you. While the ball is in the air your starting bending knees, getting feet ready, and get hands up with finger pointed to the ceiling. So you are ready to shoot right was you catch the ball. Too often players, catch, bend knees, pivot, and then go up into their shot. That takes too long and results in more blocked shots. Do your work before the ball gets to you. Good luck.
