I read on here about leagues that only allow man to man, no trapping etc. This sounds like a great idea to really teach kids the correct way to play basketball. Too many time in our league most teams are more concerned with winning versus teaching kids the fundamentals. My question would be were these leagues started that way or were you able to convince local rec leagues to switch to this format.

I think most rec. leagues need to be pushed in the proper direction. All to often they get the attitude that it is "only" rec. ball. Thus, things don't really matter and very little thought goes into it. Well, IMHO that's baloney. Rec. ball shouldn't mean "do not care" ball. Rec. ball may be for the "less talented" kids, but you still need to learn the fundamentals of the game, as well as teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment, etc. Good luck.
