3rd grade girls rec. two issues standing out that I want to work on besides spacing on offense. Decision making. First making a quicker decision once you catch the ball (pass, drive, shoot). I just read some ideas on this forum to try which I think will be good for that. Second and kind of goes together. Helping players understand who is open. Have been playing no dribble 3-3 but probably not enough.

This takes time... years to learn. Have you tried this drill?

Beyond that... continual teaching during scrimmages, small sided games, and regular games.

And keep working on skills. Sometimes kids just have to focus so much on catching the ball because they are young and lacking skill... they don't have time to think about complex decisions.

And remember, they are kids. They all develop mentally, emotionally and physically at different times. Some develop decision making early on. Some don't develop that part of their brain until middle school or high school. You can make progress with everyone but it's always a good reminder that their brains are different than ours as adults... some just need more time that others.
