Yea... these kids are so young. Just keep teaching and working on those fundamentals. I always have to remind myself that coaching youth basketball is a marathon, not a sprint.

Some kids will take a while to play defense the way you want. 7 and 8 year olds have completely different minds than adults. Things will change a lot as they get older.

What you are experiencing is normal. They will all come around with time (years) and persistence.

Found out it's probly there attention span. I spent 50% of the game yelling stay with your man defense and move don't stand in one spot on offense. Much better results all the kids where shooting the ball. I been doing multiple 1 on 1 drills and having 3 on 3 games at practice. This game the score was 42 to 10, I even took my best players out after the first qtr my timid kids where shooting and tuff on defense. Also once you get a 20 pt lead they don't keep score anymore in our league so the score board did not show this.
