I have been coaching youth to High school level competitive (AAU) basketball for 5 years. I currently have a 10u and 15u (freshman) age basketball teams. I have a serious interested in coaching basketball at the High School level, just would like to get some help on how I can pursue this dream of mine. Also would like a practice plan and drills for High School level players.
Thanks
David

Hey David,

You have a little exerience now and thats a good thing.... but if you want to teach and coach at the high school level, you will need a Bachelors degree and a teaching certificate. There are a few schools where you can just coach without a degree but then you have to take a coaching accredidation course. That all depends on the state you live in.
Talk to some high school coaches in your area and ask for their advice. Don't be afraid to pursue your dream... I coached 5-8th graders for 13 years before I finally decided to go to college at 32 and get my degree - so it can be done. I was a lower level coach for 8 years before I got the Varsity gig. I wouldn't trade any of that for anything else.
I have a practice plan on coaches clipboard that we used in our program. Take a look and let me know what you think. Making a practice plan takes some time to do well.... again, go to the high school coaches in your area.
