I bought the flex offense, motion offense, 30 competitive drills, untempo drill ,kelbick transition book and man to man defense and the problem is i don't know what to teach first and what should we do. My email is andales143@gmail.com |

First you need to decide on your team identity and your philosophy. For me at the 10th grade level my priorities are: - defense - rebounding - fundamental skills (shooting, ballhandling, etc) - motion offense So I structure practice to allocate time to each of those things. So I might work on defense for 25 minutes, rebounding for 15, skills for 30, and motion the rest. With that said, we often work on several things at the time. Our defense, rebounding, and motion work can all be at the same time. One coach watches offense, the other defense and rebounding. Generally at the beginning of the season I make a list of all the skills and things I think we want to work on. Then I reference that when making practice plans. There's not enough time for everything, so you as a coach need to decide what is important to you and prioritize. Well Coach, you have all the tools; you got the motion the flex and the Kelbick coaching philosophy......now what will you do wit them...Well, K.,I.S.S....Keep It Simple Stupid...Depending on the age you are coaching should define your coaching philosophy. If you have young kids, work on fundamentals and for your games, a very simple offense that the kids can have fun running. For older players to adults, find 6 or 7 drills that combine passing, shooting dribbling and running and teach those. With all my teams (professional), this is what I did. all drills were broken down to 5 or 6 minute segments. Further, in any of my drills, I implemented offensive and defensive components that i may use during the season.
