Coach D: You seem to be anticipating problems prior to them popping up, my suggestion is don't get all bent out of shape with these problems until they show up then deal with them individually. As far as disciplining a player for selfishness, my suggestion, speak to him alone. I have always disciplined in private and heaped praise on players in front of the entire group. If you establish rules, think them out carefully prior to implementation. Don't make them so rigid that there is no room for maneuvering. Lack of playing time is a great motivator for attitude. I would much prefer to coach a kid that has a great attitude and does everything that you ask of him, even if he's less skilled. I love Coach Sars quotes, because he always highlights FUN. However, the fun should not only be for the players, it should also be for the coaches. Coach Mac

Amen to that Mac...... I know even though I was pretty intense I had fun.... IF you cant have fun - no sense in being in this GAME.
