Hey!

Absolutely love all your free content and keen to get started and buy some products.

I am new to learning the X's and O's of basketball and aspire to be a coach in 2020. This year I am doing some video coordinator work for a local high school.

My question is. Which product will give me the best understanding of basketball strategy? I want to gain a holistic understand of how it all works. Why screens are set, when to cut, correct spacing. I want to learn the tenents of offense rather than a particular offense. Be great to get this holistic understanding as a baseline to learning more specific offenses in the future.

Would also like the same on the defensive side of the ball. Just want to learn as much about the strategy side as I can.

Finally - On a skill development side. I am wanting to improve my offensive game. Which product would you recommend?

I am after understanding each skill and a clear progression. I basically want to be instructed of what to do each day.

I saw your apps. The Attack and Counter one looks great. Does this not only teach why and how to do the skills but also what to do on each day in clear progression?

I also saw your three-dimensional scorer program. Does this have much in workouts and what do to on each day?

Thanks again - apologies for the long email. I am very interested in your products just want to make sure I start in the right place.

Thanks,
Daren

One of the best things you can do it the video coordinator work you're doing and also scouting. You learn a ton about offenses, defenses, and strategies by watching film and coming up with strategy with your other coaches. So that's a good thing.

To supplement that learning, I also suggest these resources:

Again watching film and preparing for your opponent, is a great way to learn lots of different defensive strategies.

For a solid foundation, I recommend learning man to man. This is by far the best resource for that:

Once you have a solid understanding of man, you can start learning about other defenses. Good zones are based on good man to man principles.

There are so many defenses you can look at... 2-3 zone, 1-3-1, press, junk defense, etc. So if at some point you have something specific you want to study, let me know. But I think learning man first and then maybe 2-3 zone is a good place to start.

I recommend these two:

It gives you the clear progression but does not tell you "why". You see how to do the drill and that is it. Each day you see new drills -- no audio. Just text and drills you can watch on your phone or computer.

Yes, it gets you started on some workouts. Basic, intermediate, and advanced. Not nearly as many workouts as the apps... but it gets you started and something you can use for quite a while... just not as much variation and planned / thought out unique daily workouts like the apps have.

If you have other questions just let us know.
