Hi everyone...

Is it possible to play a zone full court press, but drop back into a man defense when the press is broken? I'd like to have my kids play a man, but I much prefer zone presses, which tend to lend themselves to easily dropping back into zones. And the chaos that I think I'd have as kids scramble to find their men once the press is broken gives me the chills.

Wondering what others do about this, or whether I'm limited to a man full court press if I'm going to play a man defense once its broken.

Thanks....!

I have seen many teams run zone press and then drop back into man defense. It does take some practice to get players transitioning from the press into half court man.

The biggest key is communication and players need to realize they don't always guard the same player... often times you have to guard the closest player and then switch later in possession if needed.

With that said, if your bigs are in back of press they can often match up with other bigs.
