I am a coach for a grown up guys, recently we lost to a game
in which our opponent had employed a 1-2-2 zone defense throughout
the entire game.

We are strong on 1.2 & 3 position, basically good shooters and dribblers
but rather weak on 4 & 5.

Can you give me some tips or plays.

Thanks in advance for your kind advise.

If your post players cannot score, play them inside - high and low - I really like someone to be in the short corner, and use them as ball reversers.

Not as a perimeter player would reverse the ball, but as a post player. A pass to a post player in the lane will cause the zone to sink into the lane.

High post players should look opposite/corner, low post players should look opposite/wing. Then you can play inside out

I realize this is very conceptual, but play around with it. The more you do it, the more your shooters will hunt hunt spots in the zone. Your post players will learn where to look. Eventually you will get into weakside screening actions just as a matter of course and opportunity. You will recognize the opportunities and so will your players.

Over time, the zone will stop sinking which will give you post guys opportunities and they will be better than you think.
