Im thinking of ordering the motion offense e-book.
I am reading about about motion offenses in general.
I have question that i cant seem to find the answer to.
In my team I it happens that 1 of my post players is also one of my top 2 3point shooters and also among the best at driving to the basket. And vice versa i have a couple of players that is normally 2-3 position that also do very well at the post position. I like to implement an offense that allows my post players to become poss 2 and 3 and my 2-3 guys to get to the post. Is the motion offense an offense that i can do this with ?

Best regards

You can run a 5 out motion. All the positions are interchangeable. You can have players read mismatches and then post up or you can call out certain players you want to post. They can cut and post temporarily or you can have them post up and then stay in a 4-1 formation for the whole position. Basically you can change from 5 out to 4 out at any time. That's what we do with our motion... run from a 5 out formation but lots of different guys post.

Late to this topic, new member on the board - just to add, this is EXACTLY the offense you want to run if your best post player is also your best outside shooter. And if he can handle the ball, even better. The options the motion offense provides to that player present a significant challenge to the defense.

In fact Coach Kelbick had that scenario in at least one of his years as a college HC, the player was able to work within the offense to lead the team in almost every offensive category.
