Post subject: | little help, please |
Does anybody know some good books, links, e-books... about scouting (about transfer from high school to the university)? To be precise, I need information what couches from university are looking for in players, what characteristics, psycho-physical qualities, coordination, mental state .... I need all of this for my graduate paper, and I'll be really grateful to get any kind of information that could help me.. Best regards, Darko |

Darko: Jeff and Joe, have a great DVD called Danny Miles Value Point system. this basically gives all the ins and outs of selecting your team for the season. It talks about the type of attributes you should be looking for and has a ton of great drills. further, It will give you insight into the type of players you want on your team. trust me, Ive been coaching for 38 years at every level and I now use this to evaluate possible NBA players...coach Mac |

Darko: Another couple of books that I have read give great insight into what you are looking for. One is called "They call me Coach" by John wooden the legendary coach from UCLA in the 60's and 70's. this book never goes out of date. Also a book written by Morgan Wooten "Coaching Basketball Successfully, " is what I call the bible of basketball. Then there is "Season on the Brink " a season with Coach Bobby Knight and the Indiana Hoosiers...all great reading. However, one of the best books on strategy and philosophy that I have read time and time again is "the Art of War" by Sen Su...written over 3,000 years ago...enjoy. Coach Mac |
