Something I struggle with is assigning positions. I tend to run a 5 out motion offense so I do not have actual positions however when it comes to running out of bounds plays or set plays, I am not sure how to organize my team so the players know where they need to go. For example if we run a stack out of bounds play, how do my players know where they go? If I have 8 players on my team, they will never be out on the court with the same people all the time to remain in the same positions. I hope this makes sense. I wasn't sure how to best put this in writing.

You have to pick a few in bounds plays, keep it simple and the kids will have to memorize what each position does depending upon where they are on the court. You just need to allow enough time in each practice for all the kids to run through all the positions. Once you practice those, you'll be surprised how quickly they'll pick it up, if you keep it simple.

Regarding actually calling out a set play from a 5 out, the same thing applies. Keep the set plays simple and your players will have to know what to do depending upon where they are when a play is called.

Bottomline: You choose the in bounds plays and set plays that will work with your players and practice them. My advice is to keep it simple and don't go overboard. Doing a few things really well will pay off more than having several things you're kinda good at.

I run all of my plays from this set. I will also interchange players.

For beginners, I would run play 1 and 2. Very basic and effective if you teach them the proper fundamentals.

As players get older and more experience, I like 5 & 6.
