What is the recommended angle/angles for filming a game to be used as an individual player's film to potentially submit to college coaches or use as a recruiting aid? Is it best to just setup the camera at a high point in a corner and film the entire court for the whole game? Or would it be best to place the camera up high at halfcourt and set it so both ends of the court are included in one shot? Should you follow the action from end to end to include the entire halfcourt setting?

Thanks.

I don't know much about "recruiting films". But my opinion is the center bleacher shot that follows the action is best all around shot. Get up as high as you can in bleachers, frame roughly 40-50% of the court length, and follow the action.

I think the corner and other angles make it hard to see what is happening and get you too wide... so you can barely tell player #s, etc.

I use a Garmin Virb Ultra 30 to tape my son's games. It captures the entire court and is zero work. I have a good example here:

That was shot on my older camera plus being on youtube reduces the quality significantly. It looks much better on a computer with the newer camera.

I have more details about the camera on my website here:

I then upload the games to dropbox for all parents/grandparents to download and watch if they missed the game. Works great. Although I've almost used a terabyte on dropbox now. :)
