Have you ever watched a Duke game and noticed what happens if there is a Duke player on the ground after a dead ball?<\/p>\n

Every single Duke player on the floor\u00a0runs to the player\u00a0on the ground\u00a0and helps him up.\u00a0 I’m certain that Coach K engrains this into his players from day 1 and it’s important that you do too.<\/p>\n

How does this help your team?<\/p>\n

1. It builds the team unity.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. Intimidates the other team, especially if they do not represent the same team\u00a0unity.\u00a0 Not many people\u00a0like to feel like it is 5 versus 1\u00a0or 5 versus 2.\u00a0 If they do, they’ll never accomplish much in a team sport like basketball.<\/p>\n

Put yourself in the player’s shoes.\u00a0 If\u00a0you get knocked down, what feels better?\u00a0 To have 4 teammates sprinting over to help you up or seeing your teammates just looking at you and you have to get yourself up.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I would think knowing that your teammates have your back no matter what would be the better feeling.\u00a0 This feeling naturally boosts confidence as well.<\/p>\n

When your team helps each other out like this, it natrually builds that\u00a0togetherness that\u00a0you want.\u00a0\u00a0This unity leads to the extra pass being made, teammates setting better screens for each other, and players playing harder for each other.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0It\u2019s the little things that separate the great teams from everyone else.<\/p>\n
