{"id":322,"date":"2009-11-26T10:59:04","date_gmt":"2009-11-26T15:59:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/blog\/?p=322"},"modified":"2009-11-26T10:59:04","modified_gmt":"2009-11-26T15:59:04","slug":"kevin-garnett-tim-duncan-taj-gibson-the-little-things","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.breakthroughbasketball.com\/blog\/index.php\/kevin-garnett-tim-duncan-taj-gibson-the-little-things\/","title":{"rendered":"Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Taj Gibson, &#038; The Little Things"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chicago Bulls picked Taj Gibson with the 26th pick of the 1st round in the 2009 draft; and he has been a pleasant surprise so far this season.\u00a0 He&#8217;s started 10 of 13 games so far; and when ranked among rookies, he is 2nd in rebounding and blocks, 6th in minutes played, 8th in shooting, 9th in steals, and 15th in scoring.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bulls.com\/chicago_bulls_blog\/2009\/11\/bulls-taj-gibson-living-the-dream.html\" target=\"blank\">recent article on Bulls.com<\/a>, Taj Gibson talks about the little things that make the great players great.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #808080;\">But, his buddies still want to know, what\u2019s it like? How good is KG? How big is Duncan? <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell them they\u2019re great, but it\u2019s the small things,\u201d said Gibson, an eager student of the game. \u201cIt\u2019s<br \/>\nnot only the one or two plays, the dunk or blocked shot, it\u2019s the things they do for the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t know what beats you,\u201d says Gibson. \u201cAgainst Boston, it was the way he (Garnett)<br \/>\nscreened the whole night, putting a body on the wings to free Ray Allen and the rest of the shooters. You<br \/>\ntake that and the talking, the communication on the court.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>If the great players like Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan do these little things, wouldn&#8217;t you think it&#8217;d be a good idea to do that as well?<\/p>\n<p>Coaches will reward you when you do the little things like:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Communicating on the court<br \/>\n&#8211; Blocking out on every shot<br \/>\n&#8211; Helping teammates off of the floor<br \/>\n&#8211; Great footwork<br \/>\n&#8211; Making the extra pass<br \/>\n&#8211;
