Breakthrough Basketball Youth Player Development Program - Cedar Rapids / Anamosa / Marion Iowa

This is a development program designed to help young players develop the critical skills of basketball, have fun, learn to love the game of basketball, and reach their maximum potential.

The program is for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls and boys in the Marion / Cedar Rapids Iowa area. If your child is 11 or older, check out our advanced program.

The primary focus of this program is to help your child improve...
  • Coordination and gross motor skills
  • Dribbling and ballhandling skills
  • Footwork (pivoting, starting, stopping, offensive moves)
  • Passing skills
  • Basic defensive skills
  • Basic offensive moves that can be used in the post and the perimeter
  • Shooting form and skills
  • Strength and athleticism
  • Confidence, character, and values
These fundamental skills are universal for all levels. They will help players no matter what defense or offense they use in the future. That's the great thing about fundamentals. They help you in all situations, no matter what coach you play for!

All the fundamentals are taught in a way so your child is having FUN! This is really important because your child will never reach their potential unless they develop a passion for basketball and learn to love the game.

The program emphasizes fun fast-paced activities providing a positive influence in an encouraging environment.

Each practice includes skill development drills, instruction from professional coaches, fun activities that develop skills, and small sided games at the end of each practice.

Kids get to play 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 basketball games at the end of every practice. Our mini basketball league allows them to practice their new skills and have fun! With small sided games they get to take lots of shots and dribble the ball more often, resulting in accelerated development.

Small sided games are the way to go for young kids! They are phenomenal for player development because players get more touches on the ball. They get to dribble more, shoot more, and practice their newly acquired skills more. Not to mention this gives them more space to try their new skills and build confidence.
